Wuppertal, Germany, Friday, June 24, 2011

We arrived in Wuppertal where Horst and Ortrun met us at the train. We loaded the luggage in the car then walked to a nice pastry shop for coffee and cake. After the snack Ortrun went back to work and Horst took us to the hotel.

The Fabrik Art Hotel. This is a newly renovated old warehouse. The rooms have very tall ceilings and are quite unique. All the rooms were different and were created by the local artists. Needless to say there were some very interesting room designs.

The first room was large with 2 sections, setting area with sofa, TV, desk and a single bed

Then on the other side of the room was the bedroom bath area.

The bedroom had a round bed and the room did not have any drapes, shades or curtains whatsoever. Also, there was no shower except for a hand held on the large bath tub which was in front of the window with no drapes. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, there was no door in the toilet area. This was just one big area. We decided to ask for another room.

We changed to a much more conservative room. Although it did have twin hot tubs in an area next to the bed. It did had a private toilet area and a very large open shower.

I know this is probably too much information about the hotel rooms but they were just so unique I had to include them.

After we rested and Ortrun was home from work Horst picked us up about 6 pm and went to their house and had a light dinner and conversation.

It is going to be interesting to see what other “interesting things” can happen to us on this trip.
