Saturday, July 9, 2011 Avon/Fontainebleau, France

Today we took the train from Paris to Avon/Fontainbleau to see the Palace of Fontainebleau one of the largest in France built from the 16th century.  It is only about 35 miles from Paris.  There is a large forest surrounding Fontainbleau a former royal hunting lodge.  Napoleon Bonaparte transformed it into a symbol of his grandeur and helped make it what it is today.

We used the self guided audio tour for one part of the chateau and it took about 2 hours.  The rooms are beautiful.  We are now excited to visit Versailles as it is supposed to be even and bigger and more spectacular.

If you have a house this big you would have your own chapel.
