A visit today to Ortrun’s town where she grew up. It is on the Main River. It still has 3 city gates to enter the old city. Rosshof is up at the top of one of the hills across the river not far away.
Interesting clouds coming over the hills
Breakfast at Café Ginkgo in Miltenberg. Very good and reasonable cost.
This is a Ginkgo Tree, a Chinese tree. They had one at the restaurant. Edward and Ortrun are looking at a plaque about the tree.
The city gates
Old buildings – beautiful.
The is a restaurant where we ate with Horst and Ortun 17 years ago on our first visit with them. It has been renovated now (I liked the old one) but the food was just as good.
Beautiful buildings. It is like being in a fairy land.
Eis Kaffee under a nice shade tree at an outdoor table – Eis Kaffe is a thick creamy coffee with a scoop of ice cream and a ton of whipped, yummy. – IT IS NOT ICE AND COFFEE!
RIVER CRUISE: That afternoon we took a river cruise for 1 1/2 hours. It was really nice although it was sunny and we did get very warm. I think this was the warmest day we had on the trip – upper 80’s.
The Captain showed us a thrill by seeing how close he could come to the railroad bridge without hitting it. Yes, he came too close for me.
This is a live production Theatre. Note the umbrella and in the window top hat, etc. Smallest live theater.
This is a restaurant that at one time was a jail. The owner was from Indiana.
Inside seating of the restaurant booth is a wine barrel.
You can also stay in a room there, however, bars are still on some of the windows from the jail. I didn’t check to see what the rooms were like.
