Today we return to Paris after a wonderful time in Germany. Thanks for the wonderful time, hospitality, and friendships – new and old.
We get up a 5:30 am to get to the train. Smooth trip back.
We had to buy subway tickets as our weekly pass was expired and we would not be in Paris another week and also the re-charge machine would not accept our credit card because it did not have the “chip” in it like they have in Europe.
I became the English interrupter at the subway ticket machine while I was waiting with the luggage for Edward to purchase our tickets. I am next to the entrance stairs to the subway trains and several people, mostly English speaking, come running up to buy a single subway ticket and the machines are only for multi-day or re-chargeable weekly/monthly cards. They look around and can’t find a vending machine so they ask me if I know where they can buy a ticket. I show them where to go and they are just as sad as we were that the closest place to buy a ticket is in the LONG LINE where Edward is waiting. This must have happened 5 or 6 times while I was there. You would think it would be easy to just get a single ticket but believe me it is not. It made me feel better that we were not the only ones who had problems with the subway ticket purchases. I think we have it down to a good system now.
Oh, by the way, this vending machine is at our subway entrance/exit stairs and they have several of these all over the subway system. It is a condom machine!
Preservatifs, (translation is condoms) machine
