It is raining in Paris today. Bridget wants to go to Versailles and we decide maybe the rain will keep the crowds away. WRONG! We get off the train and get our tickets. As we get close to the entrance there are 100s of people lined up in this huge snake line over a large portion of the open area, in the rain. The tell us where we bought our ticket if we visit the gardens, Marie-Antoinette’s estate, the Le Grand Trianon and the outer areas first and it should be a shorter line to be able to get in the Chateau. The line was much better but it was so crowded it was very hard to see the rooms or to spend much time to look at them. All I could do was to hold my camera above my head to take a picture in most rooms.
The flowers are so beautiful in the massive gardens.
The Fontainebleau was so much easier to tour. There the rooms are more complete with the furniture. Versailles has a wonderful selection of clothes. The dresses are beautiful.
It is really a beautiful Palace but I want to go back to see it again on a nice day.
A long walk up to the entrance of Versailles
The beautiful gardens:
The rooms with dresses and other clothes with some furniture.:
The crowds of people in the Hall of Mirrors
This is the largest billiard table I have ever seen:
It was getting late when we finally got through the Palace.
We had a good time even with the rain. At least the rain made it cooler. With the large number of people in the Palace it did get very warm and, of course, it is not air conditioned.
