We leave Rosshof today. We will make a stop at Marburg. Germany. It is famous for its medieval churches and for its castle on the top of the hill Oberstadt and the oldest gothic church – St Elisabeth. ( Elisabethkirche). It is also a student dominated university town. The University of Marburg was founded in 1527 with about 20,000 students and 7,500 employees. I think this is the AUSTIN, TEXAS of Germany.
It is another town with such wonderful architecture with streets winding up and down the hillside.
Marburg Castle at the top of the hill.
This is a layout of the old town so blind people can touch it tell what is around them.
Crazy door knob. I could not figure out what the white ball on the left was – ornamental or functional. This right knob is to open the door.
Lunch break at Buckinsgarten near the castle.
Items on the menu I would eat are marked.
Does this say Café Barfuff? – Oh yes, it means barefoot
I’m glad they put the little footprints on the sign.A Gummy Bear store!!!
Some excavating going on in the city
These doors are only about 5 ft high
Elaine and Ortrun on one of the walks downhill.
The buildings are so old and so different.
Another one of my signs. This is a broom and brush maker. They are all handmade at this store.
