Friday, July 1, 2011 Marburg, Germany

We leave Rosshof today.  We will make a stop at Marburg. Germany.  It is famous for its medieval churches and for its castle on the top of the hill Oberstadt and the oldest gothic church – St Elisabeth. ( Elisabethkirche).  It is also a student dominated university town. The University of Marburg was founded in 1527 with about 20,000 students and 7,500 employees.  I think this is the AUSTIN, TEXAS  of Germany.

It is another town with such wonderful architecture with streets winding up and down the hillside.

This is a layout of the old town so blind people can touch it tell what is around them.

DSC00831Crazy door knob.  I could not figure out what the white ball on the left was – ornamental or functional.  This right knob is to open the door.
