We rode the trams today to get a view of the city. They are really nice. In the afternoon we stopped at the river and had an Alsatian beer on one of the river boat restaurant/bars. We had a Fischer beer at "Le Rafiot" (The Old Tub) and relaxed for about an hour.
That evening we went to dinner at the Old Customs house Restaurant. We thought we would try some Alsatian food. Edward got the traditional sausage dinner and I got what was described as potatoes, ham, garlic, parsley and cheese. Sounds goo. Well, the cheese was a very large bowl of chilled very tart “sour cream” and the rest of the ingredients were in little bowls on a plate. The potatoes were on a separate plate and were roasted (thank goodness). I had no idea how I was supposed to eat this meal. I mixed some of all the ingredients together just to see if it would taste better and it didn’t. Oh well, if that is my worst dinner on this trip I think I will live. I know for sure I will not order it again.
Customs House Restaurant on the river.
Guy on the street. He has on a leather hat and goggles.
Along the river we ran across some Nutria. They were just nibbling on the moss and grass on the banks. They look too much like rats for me to hang around too long.
A plaza lined with restaurants all the way around it.
