Wednesday, June 29, 2011 Rosshof Germany

We have decided to have a day of relaxing at this beautiful farm. We have been on the go for several days and this is a perfect place to relax. After breakfast we took some chairs out and set up under the trees near the playground area. The readers all went down there and I looked for any news on the TV about Wimbledon. There is very little about it in Germany with some type of dispute with TV coverage.  I was not happy with Germany about not televising any of Wimbledon and not reporting results.  I only found results on BBC or CNN Britian.

That evening Ortrun’s brother, Burkhardt and Marianna, drove out from their home in Frankfurt to have dinner with us and to give us the “official” tour and details of the Rosshof house and the restoration, land, the apple trees, Rosshofer bio-apfelsaft and apfelwein (apple juice and apple wine) and honey.  Burkhardt gave us the details of the house and room renovations.  Because of the historic preservation of the house Germany has specifications as what can be changed to the actual structure, beams, etc., as well as the rooms inside the house.

We had a wonderful meal at the Rosshofstube where they use only the best quality, fresh and seasonal ingredients.

The chefs, Denise Maisl and Martin Jordan, provided a wonderful variety of regional specialties. We enjoyed beef cooked 3 different ways, baby green beans and hushpuppies.
