Saturday, October 8, 2011 – Lecco Italy to Sirmone and Bardolino Italy

Departed Lecco Italy this morning.

We drove to Sirmone, Italy. Sirmone is located at the tip of a long narrow piece of land going out into Lake Garda. There are some Roman Ruins at the end, a castle and walled city with narrow streets, shops and restaurants. The village is also very nice and well maintained. good stop.

The castle looked exactly like what you think it would look with a moat.

Next we go on to Bardolino to find the B&B up on a hillside.
We finally found it. Not an easy thing to maneuver through the narrow, steep mostly unmarked streets on the hills. We finally arrived and got checked in the room. Then went to lunch down by the water and the piazza area the back to the room for rest and relaxation. There is a deck 1 floor up above our room with views up the mountain and a view of Lake Garda. Very peaceful to just relax.

Bardolino is one of the best-known of the Lake Garda resorts, mainly due to the wine made from the grapes grown in the surrounding hillsides. The resort is one of the more popular destinations on the southern end of the lake and is located just south of the town of Garda. Remnants of dwellings built by previous inhabitants long ago reveal that this village has long been used by fishermen as well as to produce wine and olive oil.
