Took a city tour today. We took a bus up to the castle on the hill and from there on we did a walking tour Hradschin (Royal Palace), Charles bridge, National Theatre, elegant residences on the Moldavien river banks, Parisian street, old town square, old quarters of Prague
This tour was 6 hours and the guide told us we walked at least 12K or 8 MILES! We just had 9 people in our group so it was small enough to keep us together and cover a lot of ground. I would like to find more tours like this. Also, it was just in English! We had people from USA, England, Australia, Singapore and Thailand. None of us realized how much we had walked. It was cold and raining lightly but the group was ready to see what was on the tour. Good day.
I think we saw EVERYTHING YOU SHOULDN'T MISS in Prague
Had coffee and pastry (mmmmm!) waiting for the Astronomical Clock to start
Astronomical Clock Tower, installed in 1410, gives the time, date, moon phase, astronomy sign, AND also puts on "The Walk of the Apostles", a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures - notably a figure of Death (represented by a skeleton) striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months. .
Another beautiful church and stain glass.
Water coming down the gargoyles
Guards at the palace.
Christmas ornaments of the 7 dwarfs. Cute!
Had a typical Czech lunch – does this look good?
Goulash and noodles (steamed bread )
Caffee Buffee – reminds me of the radio show in Wisconsin
John Lennon Wall – has songs and lyrics on the wall
.
Went on a boat tour and then continued on the walking tour.
Elaine with a server on the boat tour
Elaine on the boat tour in Prague with refreshments and snack
Elaine finds the beer tapper on the boat dock – yippee!!!!
Canals in Prague Water Wheel and statue in Prague
Tiles have who lives at this place.
Murals painted on the outside walls
We ate dinner at U Rudolfina’s and could not read the menu. The boat captain told us this would be a good place to get Czech meal and told us what to order. We didn’t recognize on the menu the name and the staff didn’t speak English. We finally were able to figure out the meal. I thought it was similar to the Goulash we had at lunch except the sauce was more a cream color. Czech food is not my favorite.
