Our train was not until 9:04 pm so we had a whole day left in Berlin. Rented bikes and toured on our own in Berlin.
We road thru the gardens, down the side of the river, museum island and back to TV tower at Alexander Platz.
The trees in the parks and on the streets were so beautiful.
Large stones in the Park – Art!
Large Ferris Wheel and a Big Screen for Oktoberfest.
The trees just beginning to turn were so nice.
Museum District
Oktoberfest starts today and Alexander Platz is filled with people. We stopped to have a Curry Wurst and brat with a beer. We looked around at all the booths and items for sell.
Alexander Platz Oktoberfest begins.

We watched them build this restaurant in the Plaza in just a few days.
Nice display of flowers at Oktoberfest.
All the tables of people eating and drinking on the plaza. I got the shadow of the TV Tower on the Hotel building.
This was all put up just for the Oktoberfest.
Later on we went for a nice big dinner in the Hachter Markt area before our overnight train ride to Munich. Then we went back to the hotel and checked email and waited for time to take the taxi.
DEPART BERLIN FOR MUNICH, GERMANY THEN CHANGE TRAINS TO GO ON TO VERONA, ITALY.
We got a taxi about 7:45 p.m. to the train station to depart for Munich then on to Verona at 9:04 pm. the train to Munich was overnight so we got a sleeper car. I don't know if this was any better than sleeping in a chair or not. We had only bunks up and down and there was no way to sit up straight on the bed without bending out your head or just lie down and have the ceiling or the bunk just a few inches above your face. To get to the top bunk was no step or ladder. Edward got to do that part. He would brace his foot on the edge of the bed then put one on the sink and a hand on the door lock for leverage then slide on to the bed bent over as he could not sit up straight in the bed or he would just have to lie down -- same as I did below.
Edward looks so relaxed on the train
Our cabin down the stairs on the train.
The cabins are 2 down and 2 up from the hallway of the train. Tight squeeze!
We had a bottle of red wine, opened it when the train came to the first stop and, of course, we spilled some of it all in the cabin when the train jerked on departing. WHAT A MESS! Luckily it was not spilled on my bed or any clothes, just on the table and probably some on the floor but we couldn't see it. We cleaned the table up and finished our wine and it was now 10:30 so we decided to see if we could get some sleep. Edward read his Kindle for a while then turned off the light and we slept some on and off as the train made a few stops. One stop woke me up with some really bright lights. Never could figure out why they were so bright. It appeared to be spot lights shining right in the window and startled me as I immediately thought something was wrong. The Porter woke us up at 5:30 a.m. for breakfast before arriving in Munich. He brought us a box with packaged typed croissant, Flintstone's Orange Juice Box, hard roll, butter and a container of "mystery meat" with a cup of coffee. We drank the coffee and decided to save the box and eat it on the train to Verona - 5:30 a.m. in a cramped sleeper car was not appealing. We arrived in Munich at 7:04 a.m. The train to Verona was at 9:15a.m. We had a ticket for a two hour layover in Munich but when we got there a train was leaving in 15 minutes so we asked if our tickets were good to go on it and not have to wait. The conductor told us there were seat so it would be OK. We jump on and then had to find a place to put the luggage and find seats since we didn't have reservations on this train. Edward went to look for seats and found some. We got settled and had a wonderful trip looking at all the mountains, vineyards, villages, and rivers. The time seems to go by faster when you have so many beautiful things to see. We finally arrived in Verona, Italy in the afternoon at 1:04 p.m. We got a taxi right away and went to the hotel.
