We arrived in Amsterdam at 6:30 am and departed the cruise. Now on to Brussels, Belgium.
We departed the ship about 7:00 am and went directly to the train station near the cruise docks. Well, it looked much closer when we started but with our luggage, even rolling bags, it was good mile walk by the time we arrived at the station. We got our exercise that morning!!!! We got our tickets and was on the 8:43 am train to Brussels. Arrived in Brussels and grabbed a taxi to the hotel. We had a good time in Brussels but it seemed to be very difficult to get around. They have trams, busses, trains, etc and the map shows them all so it is very cluttered.
Grand Place
We saw the famous Mannikan Pis statue:
I’m not sure why it is popular but there are big crowds of tourist every day.
This is a restaurant near the statue – the little boy peeing sign is holding a food tray – oooh noooo!
We were at an outdoor cafe and 2 young men next to us, who were traveling around Europe, separately but they had just run into each other again after they had met in a Youth Hostel in Amsterdam. One was from Wisconsin and the other from Texas. We found out from them that we could buy a converter for the notebook to connect to high speed internet and the name of a phone we could get to use in Europe. We talked with them for several minutes.
