The ship made a port of call in Dublin, Ireland. We had spent 10 days here just a few weeks earlier so we went to town just for the free Wi-Fi to post messages and read emails. Found our favorite wine bar in Dublin and got caught up of all the news and emails.
Edward once again with his favorite statue in Dublin, Molly Malone. Neglected to mention in our earlier posts from Dublin that Dublin is probably the only city in Europe without an equestrian statue. It seems that all the old equestrian statues were of famous English soldiers. When Ireland gained its independence from England in 1922, the city proceeded to take down all the equestrian statues of English generals and war heroes. No horse statues in Dublin.
Above, hard to tell from these two pictures, but this bridge is in the shape of an Irish harp. The left picture shows the general outline of the harp and the right picture shows the bridge supports which form the strings of the harp. We missed seeing this on our previous trip so it was nice to find something we had not see before.
Look! They are packing our Irish souvenirs. If you cannot tell, they are giant tankers full of Guinness that are being loaded onto a ship for transport! Hope the are there when we get home!
Below, on the ship that night a group of Irish dancers who had performed in Riverdance were invited to do a show for the passengers of the ship. It was great. Better than anything we were able to find on the streets of Dublin.
