Cruise ship stopped in Gothenburg, Sweden, Sweden’s second largest city. It is the home of Volvo. Not sure why the cruise line chose to stop here instead of Oslo, Norway or Hamburg, Germany which are very nearby. But, it became an easy catch up day with free wifi in the city instead of paying the $.40/minute cost of the ship.
The Volvo Museum near the Volvo plant.
Pretty boulevards in this nice city
Note how hard the fellow in the orange jacket is working!!! Just sitting and watching his partner work. Must be the supervisor standing. Just like the US, one man working and two men watching.
Above, interesting street lamps on the old bridge.
A pink Vespa. Must belong to Barbie!
We call this the “Noble Window.” Our friends Jack and Jill Noble love wearing the old basic black and white basketball shoes. Here are a few colors to add to the collection.
Former church now the Town Hall.
Very modern buildings here. Volvo must pay a lot of taxes.
This picture does not do justice to the size of these cinnamon rolls. They are the size of a small pizza and people here have them with coffee. The Husaren Bakery is famous for its oversized cinnamon rolls. Funny, the cinnamon rolls are almost larger than the small chandeliers.
Some shopping streets in old town center. Below, nice views of the river than flows through town.
Flower boats floating in the river!
Below, these girls are jumping on a trampoline imbedded in the grass in the park.
Not a very exciting stop, but the wifi was free, the coffee good and the people friendly. Well, I say the wifi was free. When we got the bill for our two beers, it was over $20.00! Sweden is an expensive country.
Ship Talent Show. These brave passengers went up on stage and performed in the passenger talent show.
