July 19, 2013 - Old church, Cavern Club and Cavern Quarter in Liverpool

Since this was to be our last day in Liverpool, we had a light day so that we could spend the evening at the music clubs on our last night. We visited the massive Anglican Cathedral at the opposite end of Hope Street from the ultra modern Christ the King Catholic Cathedral. The cathedral is the third largest in England and sates to the 16th century. There was some minor bomb damage during the war, but it has been restored to original condition.

Below, the night scene on Mathew Street in Liverpool where all the music clubs are located. A bit like Bourbon Street in New Orleans but without the girlie joints of Bourbon Street. These are all live music venues although we did hear one club playing recorded disco music, but maybe the band was just taking a break when we passed.

Above, a very good shot of the small stage in The Cavern Club. Imagine The Beatles with all their equipment occupying this stage!
