We decided to get out of Belfast and visit one of the small coastal towns nearby. We were advised that the best of these was Bangor which was a 30 minute train ride from Belfast and a fare of only 7 pounds round trip.
Seaside fishing village of Bangor, Northern Ireland. Below, a boat sculpture in the roundabout representing Bangor’s seafaring heritage. The flowers were very plentiful in this town.
Below, the grounds of Bangor Castle. Below, the marina at Bangor. Probably the most pleasure craft we have seen in any harbor.
The Prince Albert Clock Tower near the waterfront.
Bangor is at a location near where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Irish Sea so there can be massive sea storms. Note the height of the breakwater, how thick it is and the storm clouds in the distance.
Found a great little pub for lunch called the Jamaica Inn. Not sure how Jamaica is related to Bangor but, so what? Found a nice window table overlooking the bay and Elaine immediately began checking for email messages and Facebook messages. Well, not immediately, you can see that she has gone through half her beer.
Relaxing and waiting for lunch. Below, scenes out the window of the pub.
Surprise, Elaine found more flowers to photograph.
Had a nice lunch and walk around the town then boarded the train to return for our last night in Belfast.
