Friday, August 5, 2011 – Paris France – Rodin Museum

We had a rainy morning but about 1:00 pm the sun came out so we headed off to visit the Rodin Museum and Gardens.  It is a lovely quaint museum, comparatively speaking.  It was so nice to leisurely stroll through the beautiful gardens and view the sculptures of The Thinker, Gates of Hell, Ugolin, Adam, the Repos du genie eternal and La Meditation and many more.

Paris France - Grand PalaisFrom the Pont Alexandre III bridge is the Grand Palais (Grand Palace) not a palace at all.  It was built for the World’s Fair in 1900.  It is now a museum of fine arts National Galleries and science and natural history.  We have not visited this one yet.

We decided to take a bus back to the apartment to be able to see some areas we had not been to see.  Riding on the subway you just go from one place to another all underground and miss a lot of interesting neighborhoods and scenic places.  From the end of the bus line we can take the Tram right near our apartment.  Well, we got to the Tram stop and it was closed for track repairs.  It started to rain again and this time it was really a down pour.  A subway line was nearby so we ran to the entrance and had to take a couple of lines to get back to the apartment.  Of course, by the time we got off the subway the sun was shining again so we had a nice walk back to the apartment without getting wet.  Ahhhh! Paris in the rain.
