Early last year we were at a benefit for wounded soldiers.  They had a silent auction and Edward and Joseph noticed no one was bidding on a Wine Tasting for 10 people. We were with our friends Joseph and Dianne and the guys decided we could get a few friends to do that and started bidding on it. Time got away from us and we thought we better use it before we take off for Europe.

We invited our friends Ann and Jim to come down from Duncanville; Julie and Ross, a Bal Harbour neighbor and they also have a boat in our marina; Joseph and Dianne and their friends Kit and Ed. It was a beautiful day.  A great time was had by all on the deck at Chelsea Wine Bar in Seabrook, TX. 3 reds and 2 whites were served with cold cuts, crackers, fruit and veggies.

Retirement is not all relaxation. We have scrubbed the boat top to bottom, cleaned and polished the plastic windows. Now Edward is finishing the last of the wood. It is so much fun.  Scrape the old varnish off using a heat gun to soften it, then sand it, then wash it down with teak brightener to get the clean and match the color, put on teak oil and then varnish. After it is dry go back and sand, clean, oil and varnish about 3 or 4 times more. The winds and temperature have made this job much better than doing it in July or August.  I am the SUPERVISOR to watch that he does not miss anything and to warn him from stepping back too far and falling into the water or to call for help - he is working with a power tool on the water!  So far, he has had only a few minor burns with the hot varnish from the heat gun dropping down on him. 

Getting ready for trip

We are busy getting Puffin and the house ready for our trip. There are so many things to think about. We have a list and we still question each other and double check every day. I am still having a problem deciding what to pack. We have the cruise and we will have summer and fall temperatures. I think I will be wearing lots of layers.
